Description of Tour

 

Day 1: Adare – Killarney

  • Arrive in Shannon Airport where your vehicle will be ready to collect
  • Travel out from Shannon airport, your first stop will be Bunratty Castle & Folk Park enjoy the Castle and nearby folk park
  • Travelling towards Kerry your next stop is the Medieval town of Adare where many a couple has stopped to walk beside its charming thatched cottages, or stunning Abbey
  • A visit to the magnificent Desmond Castle, a 13th century feudal Castle set on the banks of the River Maigue
  • Overnight stay in Killarney

Day 2: Kerry Ring and Tralee

  • A fun relaxing day starting with stunning breakfast
  • Next a romantic early morning Jaunting Car Tour of Killarney National Park
  • Then it’s back on the road for a fun day on the Ring of Kerry
  • travelling along the remarkable Ring of Kerry with stops including Torc Waterfall in breath-taking wooded glens
  • Ladies View, Moll’s Gap and the stunning Gap of Dunloe offering spectacular views of three small lakes
  • Overnight in Killarney

Day 3: Galway

  • An early breakfast depart from Tralee in the direction of Brandon
  • Spectacular drive over the renowned Conor Pass, Ireland’s highest mountain pass
  • At the summit both Brandon and Tralee Bays can be seen to the north and stunning sea view
  • Continue on to Tarbert where you will take a ferry crossing on the Shannon Estuary to County Clare
  • Continue north along Clare coast through Lahinch to the Cliffs of Moher
  • The majestic Cliffs of Moher are without doubt one of Ireland’s most spectacular sights and overlook the Atlantic Ocean on the coast of West Clare
  • Just north of the Cliffs you then have the lunar like Burren region and the ancient Poulnabrone Dolmen Tombs as well as the Aillwee Caves, and a trip to the Burren Perfumery
  • Onto Galway City in evening, park the car up, check into your accommodation
  • Take a leisurely walk through historic and cultural Galway City seeing the many a mix of cafés, restaurants, traditional and modern shops
  • The city comes alive during the summer months with tourists not just from overseas but also other parts of Ireland
  • Sites of interest include the Cathedral of Saint Nicholas, the old Spanish Arch and the Claddagh, which the famous Claddagh ring is named after
  • Galway city is a great place to enjoy some traditional Irish music with many pubs having live music on a weekly and in some cases a daily basis
  • You will also find many lovely restaurants to enjoy a romantic meal

Day 4: Connemara

  • After Breakfast head out to Ireland’s stunning Connemara Region
  • Your time in Connemara may well be the highlight of your honeymoon in Ireland!
  • This wild region of Galway encompasses serene seascapes, rugged coastline and magnificent mountains
  • Visit Kylemore Abbey which is often referred to as Ireland’s most romantic Castle as it was built by Mitchell Henry for his wife having fallen in love with the area whilst they visited on honeymoon!
  • Further west visit the town of Clifden with its colourful buildings, craft shops and lively pubs
  • Drive the breath-taking Sky road from Clifden passing desolate scenery and the narrow inlet at Clifden Bay, from here you could easily take the coastal route to the village of Roundstone
  • A visit to the stirring Bunowen Castle set high on cliffs over the sea, one of the homes of Grace O’Malley the fierce pirate and her Clan chief husband O’Flaherty
  • Head along the coast of Galway Bay back into Galway City

Day 6: Clare

  • Late start and beautiful Breakfast
  • Head back into Clare, now Clare has lots of lovely beaches to explore there’s Bishop’s Quarter in Ballyvaughan which has fabulous views across Galway Bay and over the Burren
  • A short stop at romantic Corcomroe abbey in which a feud within the O’Brien Clan led to a battle at the wedding, you can still see the axe cuts
  • Kilkee beach is quite small but has a lovely village beside it with a few nice spots to eat
  • Lahinch is widely considered to be one of Ireland’s finest beaches and is a hot spot for surfing and other water sport
  • Then a romantic sea cruise off Doolin
  • You are surely to find a comfortable pub to spend the last evening of your honeymoon soaking up the lively atmosphere
  • On a sunny evening, join the crowds at Doolin Pier which has become famous for its stunning sunsets that somehow give the watcher a great appreciation for life and nature
